The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Council Meetings are scheduled quarterly per year, and is held in the different constituent member countries.
The OECS Bar Association held their first quarterly Council meeting for 2014 in Antigua at the Trade Winds Hotel on the 8th March 2014.
Present at the meeting were representatives from the various Bar Associations within the OECS region including Anguilla, Antigua, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St Kitts and Nevis and St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Montserrat was represented by the President of the Montserrat Bar Association (MBA), Ms Chivone Gerald and member of the MBA, Ms Cilma Wade.
Matters discussed at the meeting surrounded issues and discussions on Professional Indemnity Insurance, Applications for Queen’s Counsel, Judiciary Terms and Conditions of Service, Security of Judicial Officers, Halls of Justice, the Organization of Commonwealth Caribbean Bar Association (OCCBA), the Legal Profession Act, OECS Programme of Activities, Regional Law Conference and Issues of Constituent Bars.
The next OECS Council Meeting is scheduled for June 7th 2014 in St. Lucia.
